NASBLA Course Approval

All NASBLA-approved courses must meet the ANSI/NASBLA Basic Boating Knowledge Standards. These standards establish the foundational, entry-level knowledge recreational boaters should possess to operate safely on the water. Developed through a consensus-based process, the standards are intended to support course providers while improving the overall quality, availability and consistency of entry-level boating safety instruction nationwide.

The standard functions within a broader national system of standards for recreational boat operation and is recommended for use alongside an accompanying Technical Report.
