What is the Enhanced Recreational Boating Certificate (ERBC)?
 
The Enhanced Recreational Boating Certificate (ERBC) is a NASBLA-issued certificate recognizing boaters who have completed both a NASBLA-approved knowledge-based boating safety course and a National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) On-Water Training Program. The ERBC demonstrates an advanced level of boating education and practical competency.
  
 
What is the Florida Gold Boating Safety Card?
 
The Florida Gold Boating Safety Card is Florida’s designation for the ERBC as part of the pilot program. It is a certificate confirming that the holder has completed enhanced boating education that includes hands-on training.
 
 
Is the ERBC required to operate a boat in Florida?
 
No. The ERBC is voluntary and does not replace existing state boating education requirements. It is an enhanced certificate recognizing additional training beyond minimum education standards.
 
 
Who is eligible to apply for the Florida Gold Boating Safety Card?
 
To be eligible, applicants must:
 
  • Hold a valid Florida Boating Safety Education Identification Card (or completion of a NASBLA-approved knowledge-based course), and
  • Successfully complete a National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) On-Water Training Program
 
 
How do I know if my on-the-water training qualifies?
 
Only training completed through an official National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) On-Water Training Program meets eligibility requirements. Applicants are encouraged to confirm their course status prior to applying.
 
 
How do I apply for the Florida Gold Boating Safety Card?
 
Applicants must:
 
  1. Upload proof of their Florida Boating Safety Certificate
  2. Upload documentation from an NSBC On-Water Training Program
  3. Complete the online application
  4. Submit the $25 processing fee
 
 
What does the $25 fee cover?
 
The $25 fee is a nonrefundable NASBLA administrative fee used to support program operations, certificate production and ongoing development of the ERBC initiative. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission does not charge for the card.
  
Is the fee refundable if I do not qualify?
 
No. The $25 processing fee is nonrefundable, even if an application is determined to be ineligible.
  
Where will the certificate be shipped?
 
Certificates are shipped to addresses within the United States only.
 
 
How long does it take to receive my certificate?
 
Processing and delivery timelines may vary, but applicants can generally expect to receive their certificate within several weeks after application approval.
 
 
What are the benefits of obtaining an ERBC?
