Vessels Requiring Titling
Every 1985 model year or newer watercraft operated on Utah waters must be issued a certificate of title.
Exempt Vessels
The following watercraft are explicitly exempt from titling rules: • Canoes powered by an outboard motor rated at twenty-five (25) horsepower or less. • Inflatable watercraft powered by an outboard motor rated at twenty-five (25) horsepower or less. Transaction Documentation & Out-of-State Verification
Required transaction documents include standard Manufacturer's Statements of Origin (MSO), preceding certificates of title, or valid out-of-state non-titled registration records paired with a comprehensive Bill of Sale. HIN Inspection Mandate: An official physical Hull Identification Number (HIN) inspection is strictly required for all incoming out-of-state vessels prior to title issuance.
