Vermont names new Boating Law Administrator
Al Johnson is a lifelong boater and surfer raised on Cape Cod, where his father served as a USCG Reserve SAR Coxswain. He has dedicated the last 15 years to the Vermont Department of Health, managing grants, contracts, budgets, and financial reporting for the Chronic Disease Prevention Unit, primarily funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Al is particularly interested in NASBLA's "public health approach" to recreational boating safety. He is enthusiastic about utilizing the data gathered from the National Recreational Boating Safety Survey by NORC and the National Life Jacket Wear Rate Observational Study conducted by JSI to enhance water safety outcomes.
In his free time, Al enjoys surfing, snowboarding, supporting his children's soccer activities, and boating on the picturesque waters of Lake Champlain.
