Massachusetts names new Boating Law Administrator

The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) is pleased to welcome Captain Jack Chapin, the new Boating Law Administrator (BLA) for the state of Massachusetts.
 
Captain Chapin has worked for the Massachusetts Environmental Police (MEP) for thirteen years after serving thirty years in the US Navy. He was promoted from MEP’s Detective Bureau to the position of Deputy Chief of both the Inland East and Special Operations Bureau's in 2022. His primary functions are to manage the Inland East and Special Operations field personnel and direct the boating safety, off-highway vehicle education, and outreach initiatives for the Commonwealth. 

Captain Chapin is also the Program Manager as an Accredited Agency for the NASBLA BOAT Program. MEP’s BOAT Program Instructor Corps has conducted over seventy courses and instructed over 730 students to both Massachusetts Environmental Police Officers and other law enforcement agencies across the Commonwealth. 
 
In 2023 Jack attended the NASBLA Recreational Boating Safety (RBS) Leadership Academy in Lexington, Kentucky.

Jack currently lives in Hingham, Massachusetts with his wife while their daughters attend University.
