Nevada names new Boating Law Administrator
The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) would like to welcome Captain Brady Phillips, the new Boating Law Administrator (BLA) for the state of Nevada.
Captain Phillips is excited to utilize his many years working in the boating and waterways environment as the new BLA for Nevada. From 2006 to 2011 he was a member of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Hasty Team, a technical search and rescue team near Reno, Nevada, where he served as an EMT while also specializing in public safety SCUBA diving and swift water rescue amongst other assignments.
Captain Phillips was hired by the Nevada Department of Wildlife as a Game Warden in 2011 and was stationed in Laughlin, Nevada. He spent seven years working as the primary patrol officer on the Colorado River, becoming the lead for vessel collision investigations in the state. During his tenure, Captain Phillips has been a field training officer as well as an instructor in vessel operations, firearms, Taser and ATV operations. Captain Phillips was promoted to the position of Lieutenant in 2018 where he spent nearly three years as the regional supervisor of the Southern Region (Las Vegas). Captain Phillips was also assigned double duty for six months as the Lieutenant of the Eastern Region (Elko). In 2021 he promoted to the rank of Captain where he assumed the role for oversight of Operations, Training and Administrative duties statewide.
Captain Phillips is already working on becoming more involved with NASBLA. He is a graduate of the Leadership Academy, has worked on a NASBLA task force and recently joined the Finance and Grants Committee.
