Idaho Names New Boating Law Administrator
The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) is excited to welcome Coby Bishop as Idaho's new Boating Law Administrator (BLA).
Coby Bishop serves as the Boating Program Coordinator for the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation. He is a 1994 graduate of Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in biology.
Bishop brings nearly 25 years of law enforcement experience with the National Park Service. His career began in his hometown of Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas, where he served as an interpretive ranger before transitioning to a law enforcement ranger. Throughout his career, he held positions at Shenandoah National Park, Channel Islands National Park, Buffalo National River, Canyon de Chelly National Monument and Oregon Caves National Monument. He retired from the National Park Service in 2022 as a district ranger at Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area in Thousand Oaks, California.
Outside of work, Bishop enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly hunting, fishing, biking and, of course, boating. He is also an enthusiast of ATVs, motorcycles and just about anything powered by an internal combustion engine.
Bishop and his wife, Catharine Beverly-Bishop, have four sons, ages 12 to 26. Catharine works for the U.S. Forest Service at the Boise National Forest in Emmett, Idaho.
